I got this idea from another poet to simply put up some poems here and treat this as a virtual chapbook. I am working on a memoir empowerment book that I plan to crowdfund and do some publicity for. But I thought sharing some of my impactful poetry here might create a buzz. I’m not sure if I want to do a collection of poetry. What I do know is that I love writing and I like to write not for the recognition but like a sculptor and their work, I enjoy clearing the rock and finding the heart of the subject, moment, time, sentence, theme, voice, character, to get to the heart of the matter is very important for me.
Hang on for the ride, and if you get bored of the first poems, that’s cool, check out my podcast, http://www.midwestmujeres.com or better yet get on my mailing list, so you can find ways to support my work in breaking the isolation of Latinas living in the Midwest.
You can share my podcast with your Latina friends.
You can pitch in my crowdfunding.
You can introduce me to a nonprofit agency that needs help with their outreach.
You can nominate me to be your keynote speaker or workshop host.
You can read and be inspired to write your own poem–and drop me a line about it!
I would love to read about it….
because once it’s on the screen, the poem, the work becomes part of your narrative and you will read or interpret it in a way that I never could have imagined.
